Opera Miniatuur returns to Theater Tinnenpot with a brand-new production. After daring reworkings of Dido and Aeneas and Orfeo ed Eurydice, they bring a sparkling musical comedy: a playful reworking of Menotti's witty mini-opera The Telephone — a swirling theatrical experience full of singing, dancing, and playful absurdity. What starts as a simple declaration of love quickly derails into a universe where phones never stop ringing and waiting becomes an art form. A vibrant world, inspired by the late 60s and early 70s — sexual liberation, pop art, and boundless expression. Platform soles and bell-bottoms, body paint and flou artistique, make love not war. With a live orchestra of Flemish and Austrian musicians and an international cast, music, movement, and text flow together into a rhythmic game of desire, miscommunication, and anticipation.
