Straight lines and organic shapes (architecture) In Heide architecture tells the story of how people in the beginning of the 20th century consciously left the city behind for a while. Thanks to the Antwerp-Rotterdam railway line, Heide grew into a beloved destination for day-trippers and later also for those who built a holiday home there, in the middle of a quiet and healthy environment. During the walk, it becomes clear how architecture and environment reinforce each other. Clean lines and simple volumes go hand in hand with playful, organic shapes. The arrival of the railway line not only started the development of tourism but also helped shape the hamlet. Heide thus became a place where peace, nature, and architecture come together.
