Sint Maartensdal and Tweebronnen Library

This guided tour around Rijschoolstraat exposes a thousand years of layered Leuven history. In Sint Maartensdal we discover how a fourteenth-century priory transformed through a barracks period into the visionary, modernist residential project of Renaat Braem. Next, we walk towards the Tweebronnen library, where a similar transformation took place. On the historical foundations of the medieval Witte Vrouwenklooster and the later Witte Vrouwenkazerne, Henri Van de Velde built his modernist gem during the interwar period.
