Do you feel like enjoying everything that flies around in addition to beautiful limestone flora? Then this day trip is definitely your thing! That day we will visit the Groene Vallei , an oasis of peace between Leuven, Brussels, and Mechelen. In the morning, we will take a walk in the Silsombos , whose colorful signboard is formed by marsh orchids and other species of orchids. The swamp forest is a place where folk legends and nature are inextricably linked. Beautiful demoiselles will surely fly towards us. A viewing wall shows us swamp inhabitants. In the afternoon, we will go to the Torfbroek. The Torfbroek consists of ponds and wet grasslands, another hidden nature gem, Natura 2000 protected! The area is a remnant of a unique swamp, fed by very lime-rich seepage. A sea of orchids will greet us in this blue grassland. De Moeraswespenorchis and the small white orchid are typical species for a well-developed calcareous marsh. Our guide on site is Walter Van den Bussche, the chairman of the Studiegroep Europese and Mediterranean orchids. Insect lovers will also get extra attention. The area is also known for its rare butterflies! In short, June 27 will be a day of pure nature enjoyment!
