LYING is not allowed!
Everyone knows that, right?!
Although...
Isn't lying a bubbling up of imagination?
An anti-boredom machine?
Or just a way to no longer be sad or afraid?
In short, isn't lying more of a superpower?
And by the way... are adults always honest themselves?
A story full of suspense, jokes, and above all an ode to imagination. A performance that zooms through your stomach like a small roller coaster and embraces you gently at the end. Extremely suitable for children who sometimes twist the truth.
The ambiguity of lying is warmly imagined in the play of the two children, in the music, the stage design, the story itself. It is wonderful to watch the result of Suzanne Grotenhuis's imagination about the lies from her childhood. Theater, too, is a bit of a lie, isn't it?
(Tuur Devens, Theaterkrant, 20/12/2024)
'LYING' therefore does not blindly praise the lie: behind all the inflated stories and bouncy castles, there are ultimately small people with great sorrow hidden. Maar Grotenhuis shows that a world without little lies is occasionally cold and boring.
