Toon Acke, Kes Bakker & Anna De Graeve - PARTY TIME

In a country on the brink of civil war, an exclusive, influential group gathers for a party. Outside, tensions are flaring; inside, there is calm chatting, laughing, and eating. It’s party time! While the revolution draws closer, those present are primarily concerned with matters such as membership in an elite tennis club. While awaiting the other guests, an underlying struggle unfolds that revolves around status, recognition, and power. After ‘Housewarming’, the young trio Acke, Bakker, and De Graeve are working together again. For this performance, they start from Harold Pinters one-act play ‘Party Time’ (1991) and the non-fiction book ‘The Hour of the Wolves’ (2025) by Giuliano da Empoli. They are writing a new text that connects classical repertoire with the world of today. Can idealism survive within an economic system that is structurally built on self-interest?
