What if healing begins in the ground? ‘Soil Biographies’ is about healing and origin, about the ground beneath our feet and the voices that rise from it. Louis Vanhaverbeke, Melissa Mabesoone, and Farida Amadou are versatile artists who each start from ‘the soil’ in their own way. Louis found stability in agriculture after a period of mental deregulation. Melissa, daughter of a Zeeland potato farmer, processes that family inheritance in her performances and questions gender roles with the necessary humor and sharpness. Farida, bassist in the improvisation scene, investigates as a black musician the origin of the blues and searches for new forms of country music. Together, the three of them make a living performance about earth, identity, and recovery and invite the audience to feel, listen, and ground themselves again together.
