50 years of nature reserve RNOP in Ploegsteert Op Saturday, September 5, 2026 the Réserve Naturelle et Ornithologique de Ploegsteert (RNOP) celebrates its 50th anniversary with a grand 'Fête de la Nature'. This beautiful nature reserve is located just across the language border, just past Heuvelland. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. everyone is welcome for a festive and family day full of nature, discovery and entertainment. Visitors can enjoy numerous stands and activities, nature workshops, exhibitions, guided walks in Dutch and French, demonstrations, children's entertainment and so much more. The Life AWOM project, concerning the restoration of resting and wintering areas for the aquatic warbler, will also be presented. The official inauguration, with a tribute to José Tahon, takes place at 11 a.m. There is the possibility to have lunch on site. Natuurpunt Westland is setting up an info stand there.
