Blai Ciurana i Abellí was born in 1995 in Fornells de la Selva (Spain). At the age of five, he started music theory and at six he started piano lessons. He obtained a bachelor's degree in classical and contemporary piano pedagogy at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC). In September 2022, he enrolled at the Koninklijke Beiaardschool Jef Denyn in Mechelen with professors Koen Cosaert and Koen Van Asche. He obtained his diploma in 2024, just two years after starting his study of the instrument and campanology. At the same time, he expanded his carillon study at the Podiumacademie in Lier with Koen Van Asche. Blai has performed as a carillonneur in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, and the Verenigde Staten. Currently, he is a piano teacher, freelance carillonneur, and advanced carillon student in Belgium. In addition to his work as a carillonneur, he has been a campanologist since 2018, specializing in cataloging and advising, and secretary of the Catalan guild Confraria de Campaners i Carillonistes de Catalunya.
