For no less than 45 years, Jean Bosco Safari has been on stage. On the occasion of this anniversary, he created a musical, poignant, and surprisingly funny show together with his pianist Steven Mintjens: ‘Enkele Reis Belgi’. A mother from Rwanda is forced to offer her six-year-old son for adoption. They promise her that the boy can study abroad and return to Rwanda after his studies. But nothing is what it seems. This is the life story of Jean Bosco Safari, son of a Tutsi mother and a white mining engineer, whose life took a completely different turn in a single snap of the fingers. The story, where music forms the backdrop, is brought with respectful lightness by master storyteller Jean Bosco Safari himself. His storytelling is sometimes gripping, then again humorous. Did you know that Jean was once a comic book artist at Studio Vandersteen? That the music of The Beatles runs like a thread through his life? And that he only discovered the true identity of his father a short time ago?
