In the documentary, we follow Simeon, a Dominican healthcare worker in training, who enters a Ghent residential care center with his southern flair. Although he runs up against the limits of the healthcare system, he manages to win the hearts of the residents. Met Les dames blanches, Camille Ghekiere puts herself on the map as a quirky filmmaker with an eye for engaging stories. After the success of her graduation film Nieuwkomers in 2021, the Ghent director now presents her feature film debut: a hybrid documentary that looks behind the walls of a residential care center and reveals the dark side of our Western view on elderly care.
