LAZARUS and Het NUT | Witte Weelde

A hot-stoked sauna. Inside, world problems are reduced to trade opportunities: where panic reigns, much can be earned. If you position yourself on the right side of a tilting history, the cents roll your way by themselves. Time passes. Gluttonous, the gentlemen and ladies in the sauna continue to close their shady deals, dampen their emotional lives, hide their desires, and avoid each other's eyes. Blind to the tipping point that will irrevocably, unrecognizably, and revolutionarily change life. After which the world will be divided into a before and after. Witte Weelde is an exploration of willful powerlessness, wearing-out time, disturbed communication between people, and the human striving (and failure) for meaning and connection. A tragedy and comedy at the same time. After 10 years of working together for 25 Flemish editions of Orde van de Dag, Het NUT and LAZARUS join forces for this theater performance. With as foundations their love for the Russian classics, the humor and tragedy of life, theater as a mirror for the world and society, and how humans behave (or misbehave) in it. One is not always happy about reality, Witte Weelde brings sobering insights but also release and relief.
