Tijdens Bachs's stay in Leipzig, the city's literary life revolved around Christiana Mariana von Ziegler. Mariana was a strong, intelligent, sensitive, and emancipated woman who turned her spacious home in Leipzig into a meeting place for artists, writers, and musicians. Johann Sebastian Bach, who was among her intimates, chose some of von Ziegler's religious poems as librettos for his cantatas. From the nine cantatas for which Christiana Mariana provided the text, BachPlus chose BWV 68, 87, and 176.
