WORKSHOP GERAARDSBERGEN MATTENTAART

On Saturday afternoon, October 3, 2026, we are heading to Geraardsbergen. From 2:30 PM to 3:45 PM: we enjoy a workshop about the Geraardsbergen mattentaart in culture café The Preacher. In addition to a little historical explanation about this golden-yellow delicacy and specialty of Geraardsbergen, the guide lets us make our own mattentaart. This is afterwards baked by the owner of The Preacher and we are also allowed to take our baked copies home with us. During the workshop we are served coffee and mattentaart. 3:45 PM to 4:30 PM: While the mattentaarten are baking, the guide takes us for a short introduction to Geraardsbergen in the tourist information office. We receive a brief explanation about the 3 M's of Geraardsbergen: the Mattentaart, the Muur, and the Manneken-Pis, whose collection of costumes is on display there. This is followed by a concise exploration of the sights on the market square: the City Hall, the Manneken-Pis, the Marbol fountain, and St. Bartholomew's Church. Afterwards, we pick up our baked mattentaarten. When? Saturday, October 3, 2026, starts at 2:30 PM. Where? Aan Cultuurcafé The Preacher, Markt 9, Geraardsbergen. Price? € 17 (MOW members) – € 20 (non-members). Included: guide tour, mattentaart ingredients, coffee and mattentaart during the workshop. Register?
