Inspired by the Antuco tragedy of 2005 in Chile — in which 45 soldiers died due to a series of fatal decisions — this performance brings a deep reflection on the relationship between youth and militarization. For many young people from rural areas, military service is seen as an escape, a chance to finally “be someone”.
The performance explores the imagination of war through the eyes of a child. Games and epic sets contrast sharply with the raw reality of a system in which abuse of power and hierarchy prevail. With the characteristic poetic visual language of Silencio Blanco — in which puppets come to life through subtle manipulation — the audience travels between childhood dreams and the unshakeable, sublime presence of nature. A tribute to the vulnerability of the individual against the institution.
