A whispering tidal wave of two hundred wind players at a special location
How do you make the sea sound without putting a shell to your ear? Salvatore Sciarrino searched and found an answer that is as radical as it is poetic. In ‘Studi per l’intonazione del mare’, music consists of breath, noise, and minimal shifts, breezing on the edge of silence. I SOLISTI works together with music academies to bring the organic work to life with an unseen sound army – let's say navy – of one hundred flutes and just as many saxophones. What arises is not a loud spectacle, but a hypnotic collective wave movement, a sound field that slowly opens and closes again. A rare performance of an iconic work.
