What if, instead of a funeral, we offered a party? This is the beautiful promise of Ilyas Mettioui who responds to the death of his father with a singular, sensitive project, between music, animated film, and theater. Warda takes the bet of capturing the elusive: Ilyas dives into his failing sensory memory, becomes an explorer of his own brain to find the path of the last exchange with his father. He has printed all the images, but the sound is missing. What if fiction were the key to retracing the thread of this pivotal moment in his existence? To accompany him on this journey, Ilyas invites the animation designer Lia Bertels and the artist Sihame Haddioui. They weave with him a treasure map that is made live, mixing sounds, drawings, stories, where it is a question of moving the memory, rearranging it, giving it pride of place. Warda in Arabic designates a flower, but also loved ones, those who are dear to us. The delicacy of this polysemy tells us everything about this luminous creation, torn from grief and melancholy. In this intimate ritual, each performance will be unique, the sounds reinvented live in front of us. In a surge of life that characterizes his work, Ilyas Mettioui speaks to us of his bond of filiation, of what his father left him as an inheritance: the specific masculine culture of transclasses, the transgenerational wounds, the extraordinary capacity for adaptation of those who did not grow up with all the cards in hand.
