Jef De Haes plays accordion in an old cinema

Jef De Haes – accordion Jef De Haes (born 1986) started accordion lessons at the age of 9 with Frans Kaers at the SAMWD in Lier. 9 years later he graduated with greatest distinction, a laureate concert, and a CD recording. Jef studied in Leuven with Eddy Flecijn and in Ghent with Philippe Thuriot, where he obtained his master's degree again with greatest distinction. In the meantime, he participated in major international competitions. His last result was a 1st prize in Amstelveen (Netherlands). Jef played in many chamber music combinations, such as with cello, saxophone, and carillon. He contributed to various CDs including with carillonneur Koen Van Assche in 2017. He also contributed to the recording of the complete accordion repertoire of Eddy Flecijn in 2021. Jef is regularly asked at home and abroad to play concerts and give masterclasses. He has also traveled the world as a jury member (Austria, Finland, Russia, China, Lithuania, Switzerland, Bosnia). He is artistic director of the youth accordion orchestra Kortenbalg and works as a teacher at the Podiumacademie Lier and ART Tienen. Recently Jef was accepted at Luca School Of Arts – Campus Lemmens as accordion teacher.
