Sustained invites the audience to a joint, prolonged observation, with the aim of establishing an equal exchange between artist and spectator. Through the proximity and the vertical nature of the suspension in the air, the audience is confronted in an intimate way and encouraged to physically mingle in the watching. As a performance artist, Alice Davies hopes to offer an alternative view on athletic extremism within the circus world and, certainly as a female artist, on aesthetic idealism. KIEM superfan?
