Assai Cellokwartet: Pictures from the North - Music in images

The ASSAI cello quartet was founded in 2013 as an initiative of four cellists of symphoniaASSAI who wanted to deepen and expand playing together outside the symphonic framework. Since then, the quartet has performed regularly in Belgium and elsewhere in Europe, including in Germany and the Netherlands. What connection exists between music and image? Can a musical composition be meaningfully compared to a painting or directly refer to an image? Throughout the centuries, composers were inspired by visual art, by works of other artists, or by the splendor of nature. Pictures from the North sheds light on the music and the landscapes from the Noorden van Europa. A journey from west to east through the Baltic Sea and the music of three composers who succeeded like no other in painting the world around them.
