The brand-new pedestrian bridge over the Herk challenges you to explore the nature reserve around the Schulensmeer from a completely different side. Come along on the path and let yourself be surprised by this hidden gem!
A nature guide will take you in tow from Herk-de-Stad to the 'head' of the Schulensmeer and back. Along the way, we wander along forest and marsh, straight through the orchards and the vast meadows of the Schulensbroek. Water is never far away here: we are flanked by the Gete, the Herk, the Demer, and numerous small watercourses that gave this landscape shape and life over the centuries. During this walk, you will discover an oasis of peace, surprisingly wedged between the major connecting roads. You will learn how agriculture, local culture, history, and top nature have been neighbors here for generations. Put on your walking shoes and walk with us.
