Vanessa Wagner, described by Le Monde as "the most extraordinary pianist of her generation and winner of the Victoire de la Musique in 1999, shows as much inspiration in her interpretation of the great repertoire as in the new musical paths she explores. With her innovative and bold approach, she is seen as a leading interpreter of minimalist music.
Her richly tinted and colorful playing allows Wagner to explore diverse aesthetic currents. She is known for her musical colors, the intensity of her playing, and the richness of her touch.
A shared love for minimalism brought her together in 2016 with the Mexican electronic musician Murcof, and together they released their interpretation of works by composers such as Satie, Ligeti, Cage, Glass, Pärt, and Aphex Twin on Statea (CCHA, 2017).
That collaboration was the start of a musical journey through the contemporary and timeless repertoire of minimalist music. Philip Glass (The complete piano etudes) from 2025 is a provisional highlight in her impressive career: the album and the concerts were unanimously and laudably received internationally (Télérama TTTT, Diapason d'Or...).
After the passage in CCHA by Víkingur Ólafsson in 2018, this is again an evening around the piano music of Philip Glass not to be missed!
