The Hof ter Saksen arboretum has an exceptional collection of Asian trees and plants. To complement this, a tea pavilion accessible to everyone was provided in 2007 with a view of one of the most beautiful borders in the park. Such a tea pavilion is something special. To highlight that and the Asian collection more, Dienst Toerisme organizes ‘Een Kopje Zen’ in Hof ter Saksen three times a year. It always couples a guided walk - where a selection is made from that beautiful offering - with an introduction to the Chinese Gong-fu tea ceremony.
Around the longest day of the year, the ‘Dragon Boat Festival’ or ‘Poet's Festival’ is celebrated in China. During this period, the park is green and in bloom again. It will be difficult for the nature guide to limit the walk to approx. 45 minutes from the huge range of exceptional plants. Under guidance, the participants then make their own perfect (gong fu) cup of tea in a Chinese ‘gaiwan’ (tea cup with lid). To stay in the ‘Dragon Festival’ atmosphere, we select various Chinese teas whose name refers to this mythical creature.
Meeting point at the inner courtyard of farm Hof ter Saksen.
