Rodychi (The Relatives)

Grandma Nadiia is turning eighty, but her family is already busy dividing the inheritance —starting with the house in a village outside Kyiv. The granddaughter gifts a brand-new sofa. The son lures with a grand gravestone. The daughter-in-law masterminds an elaborate plan to secure the house before anyone else does, while the entire village enjoys the show as the battle unfold, placing bets on who will outsmart whom. Oddly enough, the only person truly enjoying the spectacle is Grandma Nadiia herself. As the family wages war over an inheritance that isn't theirs yet, they find plenty of time to fall in love, pick fights with each other, bury the birthday Grandma while she's still very much alive, and make up—only to start fighting all over again. Because in a Ukrainian village, the scent of inheritance can overpower even the strongest family values. Yet despite all the schemes, betrayals, and spectacularly bad decisions, one thing proves stronger than fences or property lines: family... even if its members regularly try to kill each other.
