The Z Cycle – Urban Fabrics

What if Brussels told its story differently? Not through its maps or its official borders, but through the voices of those who inhabit it. With the accompaniment of four textile artists – Lara Perez Dueñas, Louise Danhaive, Louise Limontas and Valérie Provost – Brussels residents have created sensitive maps of their neighborhoods. Embroidered, knotted, sewn, or traced, these collective works transform intimate stories and fragments of memory into true landscapes of thread and materials. Pour le Cycle Z, Urban Tissues is exhibited at the Lainerie, an urban farm in the North-Ouest de Bruxelles that produces wool, founded and run by a group of citizens. This textile project takes on its full meaning in this unusual and plural environment… Like Brussels, made of a thousand faces, where ages, origins, experiences, and imaginations cross. Brussels is redrawn, no longer as a frozen territory, but as a living fabric, in constant movement. And for this textile Z, there will not only be looking but also doing with a needle felting workshop on tulle donated by Pauline Dornat, the artist of the Brussels project Black Wool. For this event, bring your most beautiful wool sweater so you don't get cold! 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM: expo 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM: workshop A Z organized by the Centres Culturels du Nord-Ouest Archipel 19 (Berchem-Sainte-Agathe and Koekelberg), the Centre Culturel de Jette and La Villa de Ganshoren in partnership with Pauline Dornat (Black Wool), the lainerie and La Concertation. Archipel 19, the Centre Culturel de Jette and the Centre Culturel de Ganshoren are involved in the Tissus Urbains project as part of the Cooperation supported by La Concertation Action Culturelle Bruxelloise ASBL and supported by the Fédération Wallonie-Brussels. Le Cycle Z is a cultural program that makes art appear everywhere, especially where it is least expected. The idea is to surprise the inhabitants in a joyful, playful, and quirky way and to offer them pieces of culture in their daily lives every 2nd Saturday of the month.
