Lobby walk: Lobbycracy or democracy?

Sun, 7 Jun 2026 · 12:30
Metrostation Schuman, Brussels

Will you join us on our lobby walk? During a guided tour, we will pass by reflecting facades, imposing offices, and curiosity-inducing nameplates of large lobby firms and EU buildings in the heart of the Europese Wijk van Brussel. We focus on what is also called the 6th power: lobbyists and advisors who, out of the public eye, want to bend EU legislation to the will of their clients. In Brussel, there are at least 25,000 (!) active. Who pays them? Where are their offices? How do they work? Is it true that our democracy is regulated so transparently? Gids Rein takes you along and talks endlessly about things you probably don't normally think about. More info about the walk can be found here . Every participant receives a guide with explanation, map, and knowledge quiz. Rein van Gisteren is a former employee of Verenigd Links in the EP, now a board member of the Masereel Fund. Starting point: Brussels metro station Schuman End point: Brussels metro station Naamsepoort Practical information Anyone who wants to can leave with us from station Mortsel Oude-God.
