10cc originated in the early 70s from four young musicians – Graham Gouldman, Kevin Godley, Eric Stewart and Lol Creme – who experimented with songwriting and studio technique in Strawberry Studios in Stockport. After their first success as Hotlegs with 'Neanderthal Man', they changed their name to 10cc. The breakthrough followed quickly: 'Donna' became a number 2 hit in 1972, followed by classics like 'Rubber Bullets', 'I’m Not In Love' and 'Dreadlock Holiday'. Godley and Creme left the band in 1976, after which Gouldman and Stewart continued as a duo until 1993. Gouldman launched a new live formula, “10cc Mark 3”, in the early 2000s. With a tight line-up – including Rick Fenn, Paul Burgess, Keith Hayman and later Iain Hornal – 10cc grew back into a successful live act that sells out large venues worldwide, including the Royal Albert Hall. The band's popularity received an extra boost in recent years by the use of 'I’m Not In Love' in major films such as Guardians of the Galaxy. In 2024, Kevin Godley made a surprise guest appearance during a sold-out performance in London, which led to a highly acclaimed Piano Room session for BBC Radio 2. Volgens Gouldman remains 10cc above all about one thing: “the power of the songs”.
