Private Distortion

The works of Alberto Maccari do not surrender immediately. They require time, shift the gaze, let appear what escapes the first instant. Each image is discovered in this in-between, between presence and disappearance, between what one sees and what one feels. The series Private Distortion by Alberto Maccari questions the gaze itself, this desire to seize, to possess the image, and thwarts it. The body slips away.
