During the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, England experienced a period of musical explosion. Religious and secular compositions meet in great creativity. We play and sing compelling melodies by Byrd, festive music from the court of Henry VIII and his descendants, consort music by Holborne, melancholic lute songs by Dowland, expressive harmonies by Purcell, and their contemporaries.
