SLUSHWAVE 2026

Slushwave is a subgenre of Vaporwave, the hyper-online microgenre that has been exploring digital nostalgia for over ten years. Waar Vaporwave pop music and images from the 80s and 90s, Slushwave dives deeper into dreamy ambient soundscapes. Layers of reverb, delay, and phaser create the characteristic “slushy” sound, which evokes feelings of nostalgia, serenity, euphoria, and weightlessness. Slushwave started in 2020 as a one-day livestream and has grown into the most important event of the genre, celebrating the diversity and the community within the scene. It combines online and physical experiences and offers space to both established artists and new talent. Each edition brings carefully curated live sets, exclusive video premieres, interviews, and hypnotizing visuals. Slushwave 2026 is the third physical edition and brings together all the live shows of the 3 days into one cohesive festival for the first time. Day 3, the main event, returns to BUDA Kortrijk in Belgium. The event offers a full afternoon and evening with international performances, exclusive premieres, and immersive visuals projected on the big screen, while continuing to stream for the global community. The venue is transformed into an ambient audiovisual dreamscape.
