Dionysos Now!, an international a cappella ensemble, presents the master of Renaissance polyphony: Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. His music is clear, balanced and of an almost otherworldly beauty. The core of the show is the world-famous Missa Papae Marcelli, written for six to seven voices and regarded as one of the highlights of choral music history. The programme also features glowing madrigals — Io son ferito ahi lasso, Vestiva i colli — and timeless motets such as Sicut Cervus, Super Flumina Babylonia and Tu es Petrus, which fully demonstrate the versatility of Palestrina’s genius. His illustrious contemporaries are also featured in the programme: Vincenzo Ruffo, Alfonso Ferrabosco and Orlando di Lasso. In short: this concert cannot be missed.
