Cultuurcentrum Hasselt (CCHA), Hasselt
€10–20
In the series of Sunday morning concerts in the Clarenhofkapel, guitarist Haroun Iqbal will be the second guest in the spring of 26/27. He is one of the Twintigers who have been in the spotlight at radio Klara since 2020.
Haroun Iqbal focused on jazz and composition at the conservatories of Ghent, Antwerp, and Tilburg. From his broad musical interest, he delved further into West African kora music with Derek Gripper and Bao Sissoko, and into North Indian classical music with Shubhendra Rao, a protégé of Ravi Shankar. His compositions create a space in which these different musical cultures meet.
As a guitarist, Haroun is active as a soloist, with his jazz quartet Iqnovara, and in collaborations with, among others, kora player Bao Sissoko, poet Myriem El-Kaddouri, and violinist Tuva Halse. His compositions are performed by Amstel Quartet, Dionysos Now, vireo, etc.
In 2024, his debut album Onderstroom (De keuze van Klara) was released, and in May 2026, his second came out, O Innocent Heart, on the famous record label W.E.R.F. From 2026 to 2028, he is a seasonal artist at Ha’ Concerts on the Gentse Kouter.
Meer Twintigers in the Clarenhofkapel on Apr 11 and Jun 06, 27.
