Walking in the footsteps of the Zwette Jean

De Zwarte Jean, or Zwette Jean in the dialect, is an old steam tram that ran between Vossem and Sint-Joris-Weert from 1905 to 1959. The tram tracks have since been broken up, but you can still find traces of them in the landscape: raised berms, parts of bridges, or former stops. Els Quartier has mapped out a beautiful walk of 6.5 km for us here. Vanuit de Voervallei we reach the plateau of Duisburg. We explore the historical route of this old railway line through a beautiful natural landscape, and are then literally in the tracks of the Zwarte Jean. Along the way, we discover a path twice that was very recently realized and opened. Recommended for nature and history lovers and of course for walkers. Good walking shoes are recommended. The walk is free, but please register.
