The final recital circles above fifteen years of Beethoven. The early Sonata no. 1, opus 12 in D experiments with form and thematic abundance. The sonata nicknamed Frühling breaks with the traditional three-part model and expands the expressive register of the violin sonata. Met Opus 96, written in 1812, Beethoven draws from a different barrel: the tone is now subdued, balanced, with a pastoral undertone. No heroism or theatricality here, but searing concentration: this Beethoven no longer has to prove anything to anyone, he convinces effortlessly with clarity and nuance.
