'notes to self' - Joni Brown

Joni Brown is a British artist living and working in Brussels. This is a new body of work. These small to medium sized paintings combine figurative imagery with phrases built up with layers of latex to create a relief beneath the paint surface, the works engage with psychological themes including attachment, self-regulation, and emotional sovereignty. Rather than offering solutions, the paintings examine the ongoing practice of accepting vulnerability, cultivating resilience, and developing a more compassionate relationship with oneself and, by extension, with others.
