In the heart of the Parisian gay scene, Jim is all-powerful: the ultimate Gym Queen, influencer, and object of everyone's desire. But when he is struck by Heterosis (a bizarre virus that makes homosexual men heterosexual), his reign comes to an abrupt end. Unfollowed, abandoned, and robbed of his status, Jim is left with only one last loyal follower: Lucien, a dedicated, slender twink. Together, they go in search of a mysterious cure: not only to save Jim, but also to prevent the extinction of the gay community.

Commentaar
Een flamboyant ode to the LGBTQIA+ community, covered in a wonderfully frivolous sauce and slightly humorous animation style, but at the same time with sufficient attention to painfully relevant topics such as homophobia and conservative politicians. Jim Queen is one big colorful, absurd odyssey about identity and (self)acceptance - which manages to come together perfectly at the end via many surprising twists - and an intrepid statement full of glowing self-confidence by debut director duo Nguyen & Athané.
