Wouter Bulckaert - Better than Bowie

Auteur Wouter Bulckaert plays songs by Kevin Ayers, Kevin Coyne and … David Bowie with his Band of Kevins, and tells their story in passing. David Bowie was the rock star of the seventies. Unfortunately, other strong songwriters like Kevin Ayers and Kevin Coyne remained in his shadow because of that. Té Engels, too eccentric. In the performance ‘Better than Bowie’, Wouter Bulckaert therefore plays songs by Kevin Ayers, Kevin Coyne and … David Bowie together with his Band of Kevins (Ben De Troyer, Klaas Tomme, Brecht Peleman and Jan De Mets). Meanwhile, he tells why Ayers and Coyne were gods in Flanders in the seventies, but despite their gigantic talent, went under in ditches of red wine. The performance is visually finished with drawings by the New Yorkse living legend Edward Hall, who also illustrated Bulckaert’s book ‘Better than Bowie’.
