OBJECT THEATER - WITHOUT LANGUAGE
A creature awakens, only to realize that its time has already passed. Empusa Abelha, an enigmatic fusion of puppetry, movement, and sound, reveals a cycle of creation, destruction, and transformation before your eyes. Inspired by the enchanting world of insects – especially the praying mantis and the queen bee – and the eerie, clownesque beauty of nature, this hypnotic performance invites us to ask ourselves what we leave behind and what we become.
Central to the performance is a unique puppet that brings an ancestral creature to life that is halfway between human and insect, and takes us on a poetic, disturbing, and dark-humorous metamorphosis. With original piano music by Arno Dedeycker, Empusa Abelha explores our own cycles of renewal.
