Het Paleis der Academiën is the seat of the Koninklijke Vlaamse Academie van Belgi for Sciences and Arts (KVAB) and its French-language counterpart, the Académie royale des Sciences, des Lettres et des Beaux-Arts de Belgique.
The history of the Koninklijke Academie is closely linked to that of the Koninklijke Sterrenwacht van Belgi. Adolphe Quetelet, the first director of the Observatory, was in fact also president and subsequently secretary-general of the Academy.
To celebrate the bicentenary of our institute, we are organizing a lecture day in the Rubens auditorium of the KVAB. The lecture day will take place on November 18, 2026.
More information about the programs of these lectures will be published in the coming months.
