Groenendael: return to nature for an old priory and a racecourse from the Belle Epoque

Groenendael was chosen in the Middle Ages by monks and mystics as a place of peace in the heart of the forest. Charles Quint and his court organized grand stag hunts and lavish banquets there. During the Belle Époque, high society Brussels attended horse races at a racetrack, now returned to nature, or took walks at the old priory or the arboretum. All of this gives us today a corner of Forêt de Soignes particularly rich in heritage remains, historical traces, and above all, of course, biodiversity.\n\nThis visit is organized as part of the Slow Ways Week-End organized by Walk Brussels.
