Inhabiting water: Spirituality and Resilience

The presence of water reflects two different perspectives in their works. In the documentary work of Baudouin Mouanda, water appears as an uncontrollable natural force, revealing human vulnerability in the face of climate disasters that regularly strike his country. His photographs bear witness to the consequences of floods on people and their environment. In the paintings of Wilfried Mbida, water invests domestic spaces in a silent manner. Present at the heart of interiors, it coexists naturally with the represented figures and becomes an element of repair, purification, and fertility. The artist thus invokes a spiritual dimension of water. Sometimes natural, sometimes spiritual, water infiltrates living spaces to eventually coexist with individuals. The exhibition proposes a sensitive reflection on the way water shapes both physical territories and inner worlds.
