Ten years after graduating from the Koningstheateracademie in ’s-Hertogenbosch, Mathieu Engels, known from Mathieu & Guillaume, plays his first solo cabaret: KAUWBOY. After fifteen years of singing together with his brother, Mathieu finally spreads his wings. He lands in the place where he feels most at home: the theater. “Mathieu is a born storyteller. More than a voice, a guitar, and a song.” He dreamed of full halls and big tours, but ended up during the pandemic in the day room of a nursing home. There he became ‘Animatjeu’ – comforter with songs and juicy stories. KAUWBOY is not a man on a horse, but a bird that takes us past colorful characters, raw memories, and unexpected turns. Was he the savior? Or was it just the other way around?
