Cinema Sonja - Mama, may I go home?
How does it feel when you are a mother, but your child is not allowed to grow up with you? Six mothers share their vulnerable stories about the out-of-home placement of their children. They speak about the emptiness that leaves behind, the guilt and shame that haunt them, and the fear of losing the bond with their child forever.
At the same time, the film shows how love and courage can be stronger than judgment and pain. Aleksandra, Diana, Noraly, Monique, Coby, and Yvonne tell how they, step by step, found a path toward cooperation with the foster parents who give their children a home. That process was often difficult and full of emotion, but also brought moments of healing, trust, and unexpected connection. A film about loss and resilience, about the search for connection with their children, with others, and with themselves.
