Seventeen-year-old Ainara lost her mother at a young age. Like the rest of her family, she attends a Catholic school. She is intelligent and idealistic, and everyone expects her to continue her studies. Wanneer Ainara announces that she is considering entering a convent, this unexpected news turns her family's life upside down and brings up old grief, resentment, and disagreements. Her father reacts cautiously and mainly wants to support his daughter. Her atheist aunt Maite thinks her niece is about to throw her life away. Does she really want this, or has she been influenced by the spiritual guidance of her school? Specifically for Cinema ZED Leuven The screening on July 28th will be subtitled in English. Commentaar Gedragen through a brilliant performance by debutante Blanca Soroa, this film raises questions about tolerance, indoctrination, conformism, and personal freedom. With subtle observations and sharp dialogues, an incisive portrait of a young girl trying to find her own path emerges. The film was a huge success in Spain and had its world premiere at the Filmfestival van San Sebastián. There it took home no fewer than five awards, including the Gouden Schelp for Beste Film.
