WWII walk

Zeedijk t.h.v. rotonde Pier, Blankenberge
Free
During WWII, Blankenberge, as a coastal city, held an important military-strategic position. The seaside resort was literally on the front line and had to be defended against a possible Allied invasion from the sea. That is why the Germans built various strongholds and batteries here, and the beach, dunes, and seawall were obstructed as part of the so-called Atlantic Wall. Our city also had many hotels and lodging houses that were requisitioned by the Germans to house troops in transit or on leave. In other words, the impact of the war and occupation on the local population was very great.
