Film: Muganga
Geïnspireerd Through a true story, Muganga tells the exceptional struggle of Dr. Denis Mukwege, a Congolese doctor and candidate Nobel Peace Prize laureate. In the east of Democratische Republiek Congo, day after day, he treats thousands of women who are victims of sexual violence, at the peril of his own life.
His meeting with the Belgian surgeon Guy-Bernard Cadière marks a turning point: two men, two continents, one and the same oath. Together they heal bodies and souls, “with four hands,” in a struggle where care becomes a form of resistance.
The word ‘Muganga’ literally means ‘the one who heals’ in Swahili.
