Workshop: Learn to repair your own clothes

During this workshop, you will learn how to repair or alter your own clothing. In a relaxed and homey atmosphere, I will show you step-by-step how to proceed: shortening trousers or a sleeve, repairing a tear, replacing a zipper, and much more. The workshop lasts 3 hours and is suitable for anyone who can already work with a sewing machine. 1. Who is this workshop for? For anyone who can already work with a sewing machine. If you cannot yet, you can first participate in the “Learning to work with the sewing machine” workshop. 2. What will you learn in this workshop? You bring your own garment that you want to alter or repair. During the workshop, I will guide you step-by-step through your alteration. Depending on what the participants bring, this could be, for example, shortening trousers, replacing a zipper, repairing a seam, or fixing a tear. Each participant works on their own project and can learn from the other students. 3. What do you bring to the workshop? You bring your own garment(s) that you want to practice on, your sewing machine (or you can rent one for €10 per lesson), thread, pins, fabric scissors... You will receive an email prior to the workshop with all practical info and what else you need to participate. 4. Where does the workshop take place? At my home in Mere (Erpe-Mere), in a light-filled and homey space with a view of the garden. 5. How many people? Maximum 4 people so that everyone receives sufficient personal guidance. 6. Why take this workshop? Because it feels wonderful to be self-reliant with needle and thread. You learn techniques that you can immediately put into practice and also save quite a bit of money by giving your clothing a second life. 7. Who am I? I am Anneke, a qualified teacher in cutting and sewing. Since 2018, I have been happily giving workshops in my studio in Mere: from learning to work with the sewing machine to making accessories and performing alterations. In addition, I also offer an alteration service for customers' garments. It is my greatest pleasure to share my passion and help people discover how fun and useful sewing can be.
