Wardi

Forced to leave everything behind, home, country, friends, and to cross the desert to survive, this is what the family of Wardi goes through during the exodus from Palestine in 1948. Wardi, the protagonist, is an intrepid and curious child who takes an interest in the history of her family and her origins. She lives with her grandfather, Sidi, a survivor of this tragedy, and all her family in improvised towers in a camp for Palestinians and dream of only one thing: "going home"! The director, Mats Grorud, was inspired by the accounts of refugees of Palestinian origin from a Lebanese camp and used stop-motion, 2D animation, and film archives to tell the striking moments since the exodus of 1948 to testify to the autonomy of the Palestinian people, whose education, health, and transmission are the foundations.
