Ladies of crime

Panel discussion with thriller authors Anja Feliers, Ines Nijs, and Sofie Delporte, on the occasion of thriller festival Plaats Delict . Birte Govarts has already interviewed numerous national and international authors for the Libelle Leesclub and is therefore the perfect moderator for the opening night of Plaats Delict. She will be in conversation with three female authors of suspenseful books: Anja Feliers, Ines Nijs, and Sofie Delporte. Anja Feliers is one of the most successful thriller authors in Flanders today, with 150,000 copies sold. Her major breakthrough came with the thriller series featuring psychologist Kathleen Verlinden. In addition, Anja Feliers also wrote a series about the medium Caro Westerhof, including Huid tegen huid (2020), with which she won the title of Beste Nederlandse Vrouwenthriller of 2020. The Werchterthrillers by Ines Nijs are set in the usually quiet and picturesque Flemish-Brabant village of Werchter. Wie Werchter says, one thinks primarily of the music festival, of course, and that musical link is reflected in the titles of the thrillers: Born To Be Wild (2024, winner of the Hercule Poirotprijs Debuutprijs) , Alors on danse (2025) , and Psychokiller (which will be published in 2026). It was after a lecture by Alain Remue, then head of the Cel Vermiste Personen, that Sofie Delporte decided to start writing a crime novel. Ik kan je redden won the Thrillzone Award for Beste Nederlandstalige Thrillerdebuut. Its successor Zwijgen is bitter won the Hercule Poirot Publieksprijs.
