Een eerlijk man!
Mathias Sercu & the opportunities
EEN EERLIJK MAN! (AN HONEST MAN!) is a song program about, you guessed it, … an honest man.
Over Donald Duck and about fact-checking too.
About dog poop bags and that it is never good to punch someone in the face.
About love, of course, and all its obstacles.
About not wanting to forget and yet remembering wrongly.
Over Annelies and Koen and Hilde and Linda and Bart, Gregory, Ludovic, Lode, Annie and Ronny & Conny, in short, … about you.
And that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, that is also no longer news, of course. ;-)
Together with De Opportuniteitennodigt Mathias, he invites you as it were to sit on his lap for an evening with witty and moving songs, reflections, and stories about life in all its endearing ridiculousness.
“Humor and tragedy are at their strongest when they are allowed to go hand in hand.” - (Mathias) In this wonderfully humorous full-length program EEN EERLIJK MAN!, Mathias Sercu serves you his own Dutch-language work. Inspired by childhood heroes like Guido Belcanto and Hugo Matthysen, he creates a world in his songs in which the fallible human plays the leading role.
With his sense of irony and fatal plot twists, Mathias has gradually grown into the uncrowned king of anti-heroes.
In real life, Mathias combines the profession of actor with that of singer and that of screenwriter. And you can feel that in his songs.
The humorous and self-deprecating writing style he uses in his plays, the colorful and often ridiculous characters he brings to life in the successful series CHANTAL on VRT1, but also the emotion and warmth that he sent into the cinemas with his first feature film J’ AIME LA VIE, can be found entirely in his smart and witty lyrics, which are often tragicomic reflections on love, on life, on the searching human.
Titles like ‘De tragedie van Ronny & Conny’, ‘Dingen die ge beter niet uitspreekt tegen uw vriendin’ or 'Hij heeft het niet gehoord’, already give you an idea of what you can expect.
